FAQs

How were the preflop ranges solved?

The ranges were solved using the preflop solver "Simple Preflop Holdem"

How accurate are the preflop ranges?

The ranges were solved with Simple Preflop's new algorithm and used a 10k / 10k / 10k Strength for Flop / Turn / River, which is very high.

What is the difference between the different stakes?

Pokersites usually apply different rake structures to different stakes.

At $0.25/$0.50 on Pokerstars for example, the rake is 5% with a $2 cap. At $5/$10 it's 4.5% with a $3 cap.

Since our winrate is calculated in big blinds, the cap would be 4bb in the first example and only 0.3bb in the latter.

And the lower rake on higher stakes has an impact on how many hands we can play profitably preflop. The lower the rake, the more hands you can play - that's why GTO preflop ranges are different for each stake.

What is the difference between GGPoker and Pokerstars ranges?

Pokerstars has a conventional rake structure, which includes a "no flop, no drop" policy. That means if a hand doesn't go to the flop, no rake is collected by Pokerstars.

On GGPoker, that is not the case. Even if the flop is not reached, GGPoker will collect rake from the pot. That has an impact on which hands you can profitably play and which action has a higher EV on average. (On Pokerstars, you might want to 3bet a hand more often because preventing to see a flop saves you rake. Whereas on GG, you pay the rake anyway, so calling might be preferred)
